Heretic by Mission Spirits is a brazenly distilled, non-traditional spiced rum. We ferment Heretic with a Caribbean style, first cut molasses and a tropical yeast profile that imparts fruity and floral notes into the mother spirit. The product is distilled slowly for 12-16 hours and proofed to navy strength (over 117 proof ) after distillation. We age the mother spirit with Tahitian Vanilla bean to impart sweet tobacco & woody notes. Our Tahitian vanilla bean is sourced from the island of Marquesas in the Tahitian Achripeilgo, where they are hand pollinated, hand picked, sun dried, massaged, and wrapped in wool blankets to sweat. After aging on Vanilla, we rest the spirit for a short time on French oak to soften the front and back of the palate and compliment the top vanilla note with toasted oak.
